Overview
To prevent website downtime due to insufficient disk space, WPCloud manually adds disk space when accounts reach 90% capacity. This article explains our protective policy, what to expect, and your options when this occurs.
How the Policy Works
When your hosting account reaches 80-90% of its allocated disk space:
- WPCloud automatically adds 10GB of additional disk space
- An invoice for $5.00 CAD/month is generated with a 7-day due date
- You receive a notification email with options and instructions
- You have 7 days to decide how to proceed
Your Options
When additional disk space is added, you have three choices:
- Accept the Additional Space
- Pay the invoice within 7 days
- The extra 10GB becomes part of your regular hosting plan
- Reduce Disk Usage
- Clean up unnecessary files within 7 days
- Contact support to remove the extra space
- Invoice will be cancelled
- Discuss Alternatives
- Contact support to discuss other solutions
- Must be done within the 7-day window
Sample Notification Email
You'll receive an email notification that includes:
- Current disk space usage details

Important Notes About Backups
- WPCloud's server-side backups do not count towards your disk quota
- Downloaded backups stored in your hosting space do count towards your quota
- Any backups generated by third-party backup plugins count towards your quota
