Can a Single WordPress Page Be Accessed via Subdomain?
Understanding WordPress URL limitations and alternative solutions for serving individual pages via subdomains.
ย
Overview
While it's not possible to serve a single page from a WordPress installation via a subdomain while keeping the rest of the site on the main domain, there are two practical solutions available.
Technical Explanation
WordPress manages URLs at the installation level, meaning:
- All pages within a single WordPress installation must share the same domain/subdomain
- You cannot assign different domains/subdomains to individual pages within the same installation
Alternative Solutions
- Create a Separate WordPress Installation (Recommended)
- How it works:
- WPCloud will set up a fresh WordPress installation on your desired subdomain
- You will need to copy and set up your landing page content in the new installation
- Benefits:
- Clean separation of content
- Independent management
- No technical limitations
- To request:
- Open a support ticket specifying the desired subdomain
- Example: "Please set up a new WordPress installation at landing.mydomain.com"
- Use a Page-Specific Redirect
- How it works:
- WPCloud will set up a redirect from your subdomain to the specific page URL
- Example: redirect landing.domain.com to domain.com/landing-page
- To request:
- Open a support ticket with:
- Desired subdomain
- Target page URL for the redirect
- Example: "Please set up a redirect from landing.mydomain.com to mydomain.com/landing-page"
How to Request Implementation
- Open a support ticket at support.wpcloud.ca
- Specify which solution you prefer
- Provide:
- Desired subdomain name
- For redirects: the target page URL
- Any specific requirements
Our support team will handle the technical setup of either solution, typically within 15-30 minutes of your request.
